How It Works

Arista Recovery’s addiction treatment program starts with medical detoxification. At our rehab center, we use medication assisted treatment (MAT) to help patients with the transition into recovery. This process helps to alleviate symptoms and ease the pain of withdrawal so patients can truly focus on getting better. Facing symptoms of marijuana withdrawal alone can lead to uncomfortable side effects.

Attempting to detox on your own can lead to adverse effects or a higher possibility of relapse. Because of the danger associated with withdrawal, residential treatment centers usually offer inpatient detox so a licensed team of medical professionals can monitor patients and their symptoms to help prevent complications. When undergoing weed detox, unlike detoxing from other substances, there is not a possibility of life-threatening side effects, although the side effects are still uncomfortable enough that relapse may occur.

Our detox treatment program begins with a physical exam and screenings for marijuana use and substance use disorder, co-occuring disorders, and other underlying medical conditions. Medical detox typically lasts between 3 to 14 days. The length of detox is determined by several factors including the duration and frequency of use, the quantity of marijuana consumed over a period of time, and weight.

While detox and medication assisted treatment are not a cure for addiction, when used along with counseling and behavioral therapies, our residential treatment programs are able to help patients fight against alcohol abuse and begin their paths towards recovery.

    Why Choose Detox?

When dealing with marijuana use disorder, the greatest difficulty in beginning recovery is the dependence patients have obtained on this substance. This physiological dependence creates symptoms of marijuana detox, known as withdrawal, when patients first stop drinking. Marijuana withdrawal syndrome is a combination of physical, mental, and emotional symptoms.

    Psychological symptoms include:

    • Depression
    • Anxiety
    • Paranoia or intense nightmares
    • Insomnia
    • Irritability or aggressiveness
    • Drug cravings

    Physical symptoms include:

    • Decreased appetite
    • Abdominal pain
    • Shaking and tremors
    • Fever and chills
    • Headache
    • Excessive sweating

By undergoing medical detox, the severity of these symptoms is lessened, along with the cravings for marijuana. Without medical supervision, withdrawal can be an uncomfortable process. Let the medical professionals at Arista Recovery help you through this difficult time. Once the withdrawal period has subsided, we’ll work together to start your path to recovery.
